1994. Winter. Grey weather. There was school again. Gymnastics class, every day. Boring. I would need a better activity. I am tired of PC too. The (first) part of Civilization is running on my 386 PC. I leave it for a couple of minutes, then I sit back and play a round. I do not have the mood for this either.
I recall a pile of stamps given by my grandpa. Boring. But I will have a look to see how they look like. I pour them out of the envelope. Dogs. Cats. Cars. All look nice though. Tomorrow I will ask one of my classmates /No internet, no phone/, whether he wants to swap, because I don’t want these. Alternatively I could sell them. I used to have Iron Maiden stickers, I sold them. 50 HUFs each. Great business. I got the same amount for a grade 5 as well. However I had to suffer more for that grade. The next day I ask him if he needs a stamp like this. He does. He has some too, brings in and we swap. Great…
The next they he pours many stamps out from an envelope. We pack and arrange them by the window with the yard being visible.
Rain. A class is about to start, maybe math. The teachers can see what we are doing, but they are not saying a single a word.
Finally we are not misbehaving. I pick a stamp. It has some kind of head on it. Maybe a king. I see the date of the stamp, however I can not really read it…73? Which 73?
The stamps from 1973 don’t look like this. We traded them.
I gave car stamps in return. I hurry home after school. There is no catalogue. There is! I saw it at grandpa’s.
I will ask from him. One week passed, the catalogue is with me. There is a problem. The catalgue is from 1979. However now we write 1994.
The prices are not accurate anymore. I need to check how much it is worth. Pretty sure a lot.
